Mission Statement

Pacific Agricultural Laboratory is committed to providing the highest quality of analytical services involving laboratory analysis with special emphasis on pesticides and agricultural issues.  The laboratory will use the most current methodologies and instrumentation to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction. Our staff will have the knowledge, experience and training to work effectively with the customer. Pacific Agricultural Laboratory will be an employee-oriented company that provides a personally and professionally satisfying environment in which to work and recognizes the importance of every employee. A comprehensive quality system will assure quality data and the integrity of the results. The laboratory will make every possible effort to meet promised deadlines and work towards providing the highest possible value for the customer.  Pacific Agricultural Laboratory is dedicated to creating long term working relationships with our customers regarding analytical needs.

Facilities and instrumentation

Pacific Agricultural Laboratory is located in Portland, Oregon.  Instrumentation dedicated to pesticides analysis includes:

  • Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph equipped with a 5973 quadrapole mass spectrometer.
  • Agilent 6890 gas chromatograph equipped with dual electron capture detectors.
  • Applied Biosystems API 2000 HPLC-triple quad MS system. Equipped with an Agilent 1100 HPLC and a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer.
  • Agilent 1100 HPLC-MS system. Equipped with a UV-Vis diode array detector and a quadrupole mass spectrometer.
  • Agilent 1100 HPLC-fluorescence detector system. Equipped with a Pickering post column reactor and fluorescence detector configured for Glyphosate analysis.
  • Hewlett Packard 1050 system configured for gel permeation chromatography.
  • Hewlett Packard 5890 II gas chromatograph equipped with flame photometric detector (FPD) and flame ionization (FID) detector.
  • Promium Element laboratory information management system (LIM).

Personnel

Acquiring and retaining highly qualified and motivated people within Pacific Agricultural Laboratory is the key to our success.  Our key personnel have 60 years of experience directly involved with pesticides analysis and analytical chemistry. Ongoing training, membership in various professional associations and an active involvement in continuing education essential to keeping pace with the rapid pace of technology are critical to maintaining the highest level of staff qualification.

Quality Assurance

Pacific Agricultural Laboratory operates under a comprehensive quality system that covers all aspects of laboratory operations.  This quality system is documented in the Pacific Agricultural Laboratory Quality System Manual.  The quality system is designed to meet all quality standards set forth by government organizations such as the EPA, private accrediting bodies and the clients themselves.  We have designed the quality system to be flexible yet comprehensive enough to meet customer needs whatever they may be.  Copies of the Quality System Manual can be provided upon request.
